Our Philosophy

The Children’s Centre was initially established with a commitment to support employees with work and family responsibilities and has since grown in response to the needs of the community. In 2026 we moved to an eight room purpose built Centre to continue to accommodate the needs of our growing community.

As a service we pride ourselves on a friendly and nurturing environment which cultivates high quality early education and play-based learning for the children in our care.

  • We take pride in delivering inclusive and dynamic play-based programs that place both education and care at the heart of our philosophy and curriculum. We value creating a safe and nurturing environment where children’s wellbeing is supported, and they are given the time and space to become empowered in making decisions that affect them. We strive for every child to leave our Centre knowing that they were valued.

  •  We ensure children’s safety and wellbeing is at the core of our everyday decisions, we ensure that children feel safe, empowered and are taken seriously if they raise concerns in relation to their safety and wellbeing. We are committed to teaching them to be active participants in their own safety and community life.

  • We stand for creating connections within the Centre and the wider community and embrace and celebrate our community with the core values of care, compassion, honesty, determination, justice and respect. We apply these values to our everyday practice, ensuring every interaction is meaningful and every child feels a true sense of belonging.

  • We recognise that parents and guardians are the primary experts on their children. We honour their right to lead and make decisions.  Our role is to work alongside families, creating a bridge between home and the Centre through open communication and shared goals. We celebrate the unique tapestry of every family—embracing cultural backgrounds and needs, beliefs, languages, kinship networks, and our LGBTQI+ community without judgment.

  • We equip children with the life skills and resilience needed to navigate the world with confidence and independence. We nurture compassionate individuals who act with understanding and kindness toward others. We foster a deep respect for the natural world, teaching children to make eco-friendly choices that contribute to a sustainable and cleaner future.

  • We stand for being a centre of learners, where all children, families and educators play a role in shaping and nurturing the importance of lifelong education. We take great pride in our team longevity and low staff turnover. This stability allows for deep, trusting relationships and a "wealth of knowledge" that only comes with time and experience. We strive to ensure that every person who enters our doors feels an immediate sense of welcome, respect, and value for the unique history they bring.

  • Cultural empowerment is actively encouraged by supporting children’s rights to express their culture. We stand together in embracing indigenous ways of being and fostering participation for all. Cultural safety is instilled in every day practices to ensure the participation of all children, families and staff.

Our Commitment to Child Safety

We acknowledge that we meet on the traditional lands of the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging, as well as to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the wider community and beyond.

The Children’s Centre is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for each child in our care. We are committed to creating and maintaining a child safe organisation and take a zero-tolerance stance towards all forms of child abuse.

Through the implementation and monitoring of the Child Safe Standards, as specified under the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act (2015) we will ensure that children feel safe, empowered and are taken seriously if they raise concerns in relation to their safety and wellbeing.

We are committed to the empowerment and participation of all children with a disability and identify with the LGBTQIA+ community and the cultural safety of indigenous children and all children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Healthy Together

As a centre we are undertaking the Healthy Early Childhood Services Achievement Program, which is a Healthy Together Victorian initiative. It supports early childhood education and care services, schools and workplaces and workforces to create healthy environments for learning, working and living. A health promoting service approach is an internationally recognised best practice approach for enhancing health, learning and development outcomes.

The Achievement Program can help services adopt a health promoting service approach through coordinating action across six components:
